Web9 de jul. de 2024 · I had the same issues last summer (max 53°C in HDDs). For me, the root cause seems to be the plastic HDD trays. Before installing the TS-431P last winter, there was a 10! year old SS-439 with metal HDD trays which worked well for many years without any message regarding high temperatures. It seems the average failure rate doubles, like you said, though above 45C, but it only goes from 1% to 2% (on average). On the other hand, drives with temps lower than 35C, actually see higher failure rates as you go below 35C, and much higher failure rates below 30C.
